The technique used in this pendant is called Indented Mokume' Gane'. Several different colored layers of polymer clay are stacked together; different shaped tools make indentations into the stacked layers. Thin layers are then sliced off the top; each layer reveals a different pattern both in color and indentations. This thin layer is placed on a thicker layer of color. In this pendant, the underlying layer shows through the holes in the top layer. This makes a very interesting visual pattern in each piece.
Once this piece was baked, it was sanded and polished. A bronze buna cord was attached to the pendant with copper beads separating the gold and green beads. An antiqued copper S-hook clasp finishes this item.
The front drop on this necklace is 11". This necklace will elicit many compliments when worn!
